Hi I was hoping someone could help me I have a daughter of 2 and a half, her biological father died before she was born. We wernt married nor living together. I met my currant partner when she was 6 weeks old and been together since and now have another daughter together and my partner and I would really him to be her adoptive father but don't have a clue how to go about this.
So id be grateful for any answers that coul help us.

Was paternity established following the death of the father?
What State or country? The vast majority of States in the US want commitment between the natural parent and the adopting parent in the form of marriage, usually for one year or longer.

Since I don't recommend doing an adoption, even a step parent adoption, without an attorney you should start the process by shopping around for an attorney. Once you choose one, they will tell you what you have to do. Whether you need to be married and for how long, what you need to do to establish the legal father and that he is deceased.
Once that is taken care of, then a court signing off on the adoption should be simple.
