The power to my garge pops the breaker in the house the minute I turn it on . I'm guess the wiring in the ground is shorting out. Is it hard to replace this I looked under my house I can run under come out side break up side walk straight to the grge this way I don't need to break drive way . What size wire and pipe do I use and can I put pvc in the ground ?

Unless you want to void your homeowners insurance and burn it down. You'd want to hire an electrician to do it right and to code.

How do you do it to code without knowing the code... most places won't inspect it unless the work was performed by a licenses electrition... if there is a problem that is electrical in nature.. and the proper permits and inspections were not made your insurance can and will refuse the claim.

The devil is in the details... there are lots of little things that will violate code... and any one of them can be dangerous.

What gauge wire to use is actually the least of the issues.

Just being honest here... Wiring a shed is one thing, but a garge is considered part of the house even if its detached.

DO you have a local electritian friend that could assist you along the way?

I'm telling you this as a Degreed Electronic Engineer that could do this himself with advice from an Master electrician ( I only know parts of the code), and get it to pass inspection... as a layman this will be difficult to do without someone being there every step of the way that IS licensed to do this.


And a possible house fire is no small concern to have.



Also, the county condemning the property and forcing you to hire al electrician to rip everything out and do it again to code will cost far more.
