I have an 8 month old daughter & her 'father' is denying paternity. He was really good when she was first born but the novelty soon wore off & he denied that she was his. I told him over & over to sort a DNA test if he really thinks that but he won't. He also doesn't pay any child maintenance & avoids all contact with the CSA. Can I take him to court to demand he does a DNA test & if so how do I go about it?

What will just getting a DNA test do? You can't force someone to be a parent.

However, you CAN force someone to be responsible for a child. So what you need to do is file for child support. If he denies paternity, then it will be up to him to request that a paternity test be done.

So have you taken him to court to get a child custody order ?

So have you taken him to court to get a child support order ?

If not that is when you ask for the DNA test ( or actually when he asks for it)
