I've been dyeing my hair from a natural dirty blonde, to a dark burgundy (Clairol balsalm color?) and I tried going light brown, and all it did was dye my roots the light brown, and the bulk of my hair(all the reddish) dark reddish brown. :/
I want to get it blonde, and I'm wondering what I should do, going to a hair dresser isn't really an available option, but it can be done if it needs to be, but I'm sondering if they're any other opions, I'm ideally wanting it to get to the inside of a banana blonde, without going orange.

Drastic color changes with permanent dye are usually a mistake. There really is no way to get a clean slate without damaging your hair.

I highly recommend going to a professional if at all possible. They know what and how much product is needed to remove the color with the least amount of damage possible.

Your options at home are color stripping and re-dying or bleaching and re-dying. Kits are available at any beauty supply store like Sally's. Stripping is not as bad as bleaching, but if the stripping doesn't pull enough of the color out, you might end up bleaching it anyway.

You could always try the old fashioned way of getting your hair back - grow it out!
