I awoke 2 nights ago at 4:30am. I went to use the bathroom in the dark. The window to my right became very bright to the point I had to stand up and look. I saw a 4--5 ft black misty snake like worm shaped whatever. It got darker and took shape. It moved and was horizontally pointed at my house. As it moved it then darted away from my home. Do you know what this could be? I keep thinking about it and it is creepy. It seems I robotically went back to bed with no fear. Does anyone know what I saw?

Sounds like a bad dream. No don't know what you saw. A black worm that was 4 to 5 ft long and was pointed towards your house. Okay, well, sorry it just sounds like really far out.

I should have categorized this under paranormal but didn't see that until after I posted. >moved to that board<

It is so difficult to describe as there is an alcove of our home --I could see it against the light background of our home. It was like: "o my goodness, what is that" as I watched it. I had a big bookclub party to host the next day so I went right back to bed. But now I cannot stop thinking about it and its movement and shape. It jerked and darted away. Oh God. So, as I was looking out the window at it, it was about 8 feet away. I am a middle aged gramma and have never ever used drugs. Do not smoke or drink. But I do wonder why I woke that night, I don't usually wake in the middle of the night. I only say "worm" because it was horizontal and long. It moved and darkened and jerked and then took off.

Since none of us are strange 4" long black worm experts we couldn't tell you ;) . Was it floating in the air or near the ground?

1. It could be a black dude

2. You had a dream you woke up to use the bathroom and saw a long black worm out the window.

3. You were not fully awake and your creative dream mindstate had you tripping.

4. Medication?

5. Maybe it is just one of those things people hear about are unexplainable.

Maybe it was a windy night and the ash from your neighbour's BBQ blew across your yard.

If it was something with a natural explanation... God only knows what it could have been. We weren't there. Spirits, however, can take many different forms. When it comes to hauntings and the paranormal, a spirit is a spirit, no matter what form it takes. If you are uncomfortable about the home, talk to a local church for some prayer over the property.

You did go to the bathroom.
When you went back to sleep you had a dream that you went to the bathroom and saw the worm.
