I'm a new mommy and my son is 3 1/2 months old and at first he sleep great only waking up to eat. But for the past week now when I rock him to sleep he goes to sleep good but when I put him in his crib he wakes up 5 minutes later. I have been staying up till 1 or 2 when he eats again and after that he goes right to sleep and I can put him in his crib. I have done everything the same haven't changed anything. I have tried feeding him before I put him to sleep and he goes to sleep till I put him down. He never had a prob. With it before. And I can't let him cry in is crib cause his crib is in our room cause we are living with his parents and I'm not working so I get up at night with my son while his dad sleeps. So I rock him till he is sleeping. My fiancés mom says its cause I hold him a lot but I don't think I do...
Does anyone know what I can do??

He's growing up - he doesn't need to "only wake up to eat."
Your fiance's mother can see the situation and we can't - IF she thinks it's because you hold him a lot, what does she suggest? Hold him less? Let him cry? Something else? It's easy to make judgments; it's hard to come up with solutions.
You must be frazzled - can you put him to bed later and then sleep in in the morning?

She says to let him cry when I put him down for a nap and put him in his crib... I can't do that let him cry till he falls asleep. I thought he would sleep in longer since he goes to sleep later but he still gets up at 7. last night when I would pick him up when he cryed he would go right back to sleep until I put him in his crib.

I had a similar problem with my first son. Fortunately, this will pass. I agree with your mil to not get him in a bad habit of going to sleep only when you hold him and/or rock him. I tried soft background music (worked sometimes), putting him to bed at different times, adjusting my sleep to his, playing with/handlling him so he would be tired, keeping him awake during the day, letting him cry (often worked very well since each time was shorter), etc. Try various things and find out what works for you and the family.
