Sounds like some mineral build up broke loose from the pipe walls and is now preventing the cartridge from closing completely. The solution would be to shut the water off to the valve, open it up and remove the cartridge, Check the base for trash. Now turn the water back on for a second to flush out the supplies. Reassemble and test. Leak all gone now? Good luck, Tom.
