View Full Version : Is My Place Haunted?

Okay here's how it goes. I'm sixteen and I'm quite a firm believer in the paranormal And I just want to ask if our property is haunted. (My grandparents)
Whenever I'm in the house alone or not I get this really creepy feeling that someone is watching me. This occurs all the time 24/7. Now when I posted this question I went into our back pasture and I swear I heard 1. A growl 2. A woman and 3. A scream. We live in the country and aren't very close to the city, but I know I didn't hear something that was of this world. Also while back there I saw a black figure of a man, who I've seen before on a stormy morning. (It was lightning outside and he was standing right next to me looking at me.) And also a face in the weeds.
Now that's only the pasture and the night I posted this, before this my grandmother had seen her uncle smoking a pipe like he always did, smelled smoke from his pipe, and seen a black orb... like blacker than a black sedan.
I've also heard my name called and lately I've just been kind of freakin' out form all the strange happenings. Our house is about 152 yrs old and it was and old pony express and once this land belonged to Indians, and we know this because we've found burial mound on the property and some bones. If anyone has any clue as to if I'm just seeing things or what, but please tell me what's going on!

It does sound like there may be some residual energy, and maybe even a few lingering spirits. Understand that most often these spirits are unaware that they are spirits and often also unaware of the presence of the living.
If you are sure that they do acknowledge you or seem negative towards you, there are a few ways to help them be put to rest for good. With regards to the bones you found on the property, you should rebury them and say a prayer for their owner.
With regards to the property, I suggest purchasing Benedictine medals, you can find them online for less than a dollar per piece, buy 4 and bury them in the ground on all four corners of your property. You can also burn dried sage bundles throughout the house (with all windows open at the time) to cleanse the air and release any spirits who might be hanging on to the building itself. Sage can also be easily purchased online, about five bucks.
I would also suggest you acquire some "Holy Water" from your local Catholic church, any water blessed by a priest will do. Use the water the make the symbol of the cross above each doorway in the home and repeat the St Michael prayer as you do this.
St Michael's Prayer:
St Michael the arch angel, defend us in battle,
Be our protection against the wickedness & snares of the Devil,
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou,
Oh prince of the heavenly host, by the divine power of God,
Cast in Hell Satan, and all evil spirits who roam throughout the world
Seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Hope this helps. Understand these are precautions and most of the time spirits
Do not desire to harm you, only to live again or to be acknowledged.
Good luck on your journey. If you are truly interested in learning more,
I would suggest you read any of Chip Coffey's books, he is well known
Psychic-medium with a strong background in paranormal investigation.

I have to put this out there... but St. Michael's prayer has many aspects to it that are contrary to real scripture, thus making it rather inaccurate. This wouldn't be such a problem except that many people will say it... then, finding it useless, will assume that other aspects of Christianity are also just as void of authority. There is REAL power in prayer... but you have to learn how to pray for certain situations.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but St Michael's prayer is mainly used by Catholics, not Christians.
Pope Leo XIII created this prayer and for many years it was recited at the end of Mass. Even though it is no longer a part of Mass, Pope Leo was quoted as saying, "I ask everyone not to forget it and to recite it to obtain help in the battle against the forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world." That is why it is an effective prayer when dealing with a possible spirit situation.

Sorry to bust YOUR bubble but Catholics ARE Christians. Just because a man who thinks that he is head of a church body says something... does not mean it is divine.

LOL You do realize those are (today) two very different faiths with very different beliefs?
They are built on different foundations and offer different ways of salvation.
Do Christians derive their teachings from the Pope? NO.
Do Christians pray to the Mother Mary? NO.
Even their views on salvation are different. Christianity stands on the Gospel of God's sovereign grace. In love, God predestines His chosen ones to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ, their sole mediator. The Son became man and gave His life as a ransom to secure their freedom from sin. Being dead in sin, they are completely unable to convert ourselves or merit God's favour. Therefore God graciously grants His people repentance and faith to turn to Him and trust in Christ Jesus for salvation. Believers are accepted in Christ, solely on the merit of His righteousness and blood, and not because of any goodness or human merit.
However, Catholics (or the Roman institution, calling itself "The Church"), usurps Christ's mediatorial office, proclaiming herself as the "sacrament of salvation." The "Church" dispenses salvation to her faithful in small portions, starting at baptism and continuing throughout life. Forgiveness can only be obtained through the sacrament of penance. The benefits of Christ's sacrifice are accessible through the sacrifice of the Mass. Instead of teaching the faithful to rest in Christ by faith, Catholics are taught to perform religious works to "merit grace" and to do penance to make satisfaction.
Also, the Catholics believe in Purgatory, and the Christians do not.

It is unfortunate that that is a rather true statement of most Catholics. However, I do know many Catholics that are a lot more biblically based... even to the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
The two do act and believe different, which is unfortunate because we have the same Holy Scripture (with exception to a couple books). Regardless, it is all Christianity. However, most of the Catholic doctrine mentioned above are MAN MADE... along with St. Michael's prayer... to get back to my point.
My whole point to begin with is a prayer like that can give people a false hope. People recite it as if it is a mantra... expecting the mere words of it to fix all their problems. They recite it mindlessly over and over which exactly how God taught us NOT to pray. When it comes down to it it is a misguiding prayer and it was presented rather irresponsibly.
Christ did not give us a prayer to say for protection nor have we ever been told to pray to an angel. Christ did, however, give His church complete authority through His name. THIS is how the Bible teaches people to deal with spiritual issues. Most of the people that I know of that use that prayer are the ones who originally have given a spirit a RIGHT to be in their life and now they simply want the spirit to leave... or they are ghost hunters that walk into where the devil has RIGHTS and expect to be fully protected while they play around with the spirit world. Either way is irresponsible and spiritually unwise.
Now to those that are not Christians... do what you want as to your faith. But to anyone that may rely on the Word of God for truth and guidance there are right and wrong ways to pray as well as right and wrong ways to conduct oneself in regards to the supernatural.
I did not bring this up merely to argue or to even put you down Beth. Only that many people may read this thread and I sincerely want them to THINK about what is really going on if they are experiencing spiritual issues. Again, prayer is not a fix all... God says specifically that many prayers go unanswered simply because they were prayed in ignorance. That being said, there are some theological issues with the above prayer.
I'm not anti Catholic... just pro truth, no matter what denomination a person follows.

I never implied that St Michael's prayer was some sort of end-all fix to any situation,
If that's what you got out of it, you misread my words. I simply offered a suggestion
Of a well known prayer that is very commonly used by paranormal investigators
In such situations as the question-asker described.
Simple as that. You are the one who choose to make an issue of it because of your
Religious beliefs. I'm a Buddhist, I really don't care about any branch of Christianity,
I just answered a question to help a girl with ghost issue. And I'm educated enough
To know when someone is incorrect. Good day to you.
