My eyelashes aren't that short but I want them really long. I've been putting vaseline on them for about a week but I can't really see any difference, any ways to make them grow, fast?

Yes, there's a prescription medication available. Other than that it's genetics and your general health.

If your looking for a home remedy, castor oil is a popular solution. Apply it to the base of your lashes after you clean your face. To supplement this there is mascara that comes in a green tube it's called something like grow on the bottle. It's by either cover girl or some other big name brand so you can find it anywhere. I tried it a few months back and it worked well for me.

Castor oil really won't work.

There is a prescription medication available now. The side effects are possible blindness, dark patches on the skin, and more. If it's worth an extra few mm to you, with those risks, then go for it. Thing is, there's no guarantee it will work for you.

Have you tried false lashes? Cheap, quick, simple, and won't cause blindness.

Can you point me to where you saw this - about castor oil. I'm reading it's an old wives tale, doesn't make lashes grow.

I didn't read about it. I have friends who use it. That's the only reason I know about it. I have used the mascara though and that worked for me.

Look for a lengthening mascara. For drugstore brands . You could also look into eyelash extensions - they last several months and you usually don't even need to wear mascara with them.

Good suggestion. I do have to add that the eyelash extensions cost a pretty penny. Not cheap. But, if it's something you can't live without, they are out there. :)

There are several inexpensive methods for enhancing eyelash growth.
Apply olive oil or castor oil to your eyelashes before bed.
Use petroleum jelly on your eyelashes
Take glycerin or an egg white and mix it with castor oil.
Let air get to your lashes. Use mascara and eyeliners less frequently.
Eat a nutritious, well-balanced diet. Make sure you get plenty of protein-rich foods.
It's really work

Ruby, do you have a source for any of this advice?

I too would like to see a source, not something found on the internet, but a legitimate source, a test group, percentage of growth using the products you suggested, side effects, etc. etc.

Lip moisturizer on your eyelashes? I can't imagine!

I'm more concerned about the fact that she posted a "wikihow" link. Wiki? Seriously?

I asked for actual proof that this works, not a wiki link. I'm talking about a test group, doctors, and stats showing that it works, and the risks. Can you produce those?

If I wanted to I could post a link on the net stating that rabbits are rodents, that they are vicious, that they only live for 5 years, that they will destroy your home (none of this is true, in fact, there's not one thing I just posted that's true, but if I wanted to, I could write that, and it would be on the internet as fact).

Anyone can post a link, put pictures up, and claim they're right. Google and you'll find millions of different opinions on any subject you can think of. Wiki is not a reliable source. I could write a wiki link and post anything I want. So please, I would like a reliable source, not a link. If this method works, if it's been approved, then there will be articles written. I'd like to read those articles.

People who call me "dear" lose credibility - except, of course, for you, Alty.

Awww! Now I'm blushing.

Someone called me "Miss" the other day, not on the site, but in real life. I said "Don't "Don't " me, unless you're sad that I'm leaving". :)
