Im currently engaged to a man who was convicted of murder 20 years ago he was 19 yrs old and now he will be 40 this year my daughters dad claim to have a problem with it after finding out. We are currently going to court and I'm confused on what the courts may say (my fiancé is a great man he only got 2 write ups while in prison, he worked & went to school while in and now he is out he finished his parole he works 7 days a week to provide for our family he is a great father figure and wonderful role model its not my place to judge one of the decisions they make that's God's job. Yes my Finance murdered someone but he has already been convicted, trialed, sentenced and set free. My daughters dad is asking to be the custodial parent and I absolutely don't want that we already have joint custody and I want that to remain the same. I want to know if my Finance can be around my daughter, live in the same home and pursue in being her stepfather :)?

I meant to say that he had only gotten 2 write ups in the 20 years that he was in prison.

The truth is that with his conviction the judgement of what's going to happen is up in the air. As an adult your free to do as you please but there is a child involved. It takes it to a completely different level.

This part of your statement bothers me greatly.
he is a great father figure and wonderful role model its not my place to judge one of the decisions they make thats God's job

If that is truly your thinking and you go to court with it expect to lose your child. As a parent you are directly responsible for making decisions for your child and judging others is part of that job.

It is very possible many judges will feel this is enough to give custody to the other parent, so it is very possible you can lose in court. I know 5 family court judges, in two of them you would lose most likely.
