I'm in a band, and I'd like to use a celebrity image on one of our T shirts. I've done a lot of research and some will say that you can't use a copyrighted image unless you have permission, while others will say if you change a certain percentage of the image, it falls under fair use.
If anyone has further information about copyright loopholes, I'd greatly appreciate your input.
Thank you.

You can not for example use a photo of Justin Beaver in your advertising, without their permission or licencing. Same with major sports team info and almost anything else.

I want to use an image of danny zuko from grease on a T shirt. Does is not matter how much it's altered?

Altering it can even be another issue, but if you made perhaps a cartoon or a drawing, where the features are changed not to really look like them, ( but then it would not look like them)
