I read somewhere that most mixed race babies are born light skinned and will gradually get darker. I was wondering if anyone knows how accurate that is.
I am very white and my baby's daddy is quite dark (sudanese). He is already having doubts that he is the father (which he most definitely IS) and I'm worried that if my baby is quite light skinned he will make things even more complicated.

The few babies I've seen as infants who had 1 white and 1 black parent did start pretty light and seemed to get a little darker. One of the mothers made the same general comment. Other than that, I have no idea how true it might be, or if it's true in some cases, etc.
Why not get a paternity DNA test? They are getting cheaper and cheaper. You probably should have it done anyway if you aren't married, for any future needs such as support.
