My dog Tess had surgery last Sunday(pyometra) she is 8 years old. Brought her home on Tuesday. Tess has eaten a bit not a lot just pieces of chicken. Tess refuses to drink I have given her water by syringe. Brought her to the vet yesterday and she is not dehydrated does not have a fever so what is wrong with her?? Im so worried and I can't afford to bring her to the vet every day ? I have tried ice cubes ( water and beef broth) putting the dish in front of her face. Its like her mouth is numb or it just bothers her to have anything in there.
Please help

I'm surprised that the follow-up visits aren't covered by the cost of surgery. Anyway, is she in pain? Did she have any trauma to her mouth from the vent tube or something else?

They said she did not have trauma as the Surgent checked her tongue? I should maybe call and see if they will cover they follow up visit. I'm just lost I don't understand why she is not wanting to eat or drink she lies around but is always following us from room to room to make sure that she does not miss a beat. Thank you so much

Doesn't look like it. She sometimes seems depressed and then she wants to go in the car the next?

Just a couple of thoughts-Sometimes as Judy suggested, the trach tube can cause quite a bit of irritation especially in the throat, if her throat is sore it may put her off her food.
What medications did they send her home with?
Sometimes meds can decrease appetite, could this could be the case?
She should be eating well by now, but if she is not it might be worth a call to your vet to ask about a high calorie food such as Hills I/D or Iams Max/Cal, these foods are pretty thin in texture and easy to swallow, they are also pretty smelly, which usually entices most dogs.

Well Tess has been admitted to the vet for this evening. They put her on new meds. Not sure if will help but her intestine has shifted a bit and has a blockage. The vet said I should not worry at this point! That I find really hard. Thank you for your concerns and advice
