Inheritance In Louisiana:

Background:
The Father of 2 children divorces the mother of the 2 children and later marries a 2nd time to a woman who has a child from a prior marriage. The Father does not adopt child of 2nd wife.

The 2nd wife works and has a pension of her own in addition to the larger income and pension of the Father of 2.

The Child of 2nd wife has one child, who is the grand daughter of the 2nd wife, but not a "grand daughter" of the Father of 2. Child of 2nd wife dies. Then years later the Father of 2 dies.

While 2nd wife is alive all the assets of Father/"the total estate" remain in use by the 2nd wife. There is no "distribution the Father's 2 children.

Question:
When the 2nd wife dies, how is the estate distributed?

Ideally, according to her will. If there is no will, it will depend on if she actually inherited or if she exercised her right of usufruct as the surviving spouse. LA inheritance laws are complicated, but this (http://www.medlawplus.com/library/legal/states/louisianaintestatesuccession.tpl) link provides simple to understand information.
