My husband has been head of household for r 20years of marriage. He is on disability because he has terminal cancer. My self& 2 of r sons (under 18) receive monthly checks. My question is if I got a job would r 2 sons lose their SSI? Because it wouldn't be worth me working if they lose their benefits.

The answer can get complicated. First are you sure he gets SSI and not SSDI?
Second, HIS benefits can be affected by any income you bring in, regardless of how.
Many states have departments to answer questions about Working Disabled and spouses/children, and you should find yours, even if you aren't the one who is disabled. Plus, if gets Medicaid in addition to Medicare, that is affected by total household income too.

We are in Ohio, he gets SSDI .He has medicaid spin-down right now,$1200 a month spin-down, no way we can ever pay that. Thank God his oncologist don't hold that against us. He can't get Medicare till March of 2013.
I can't get ins. From medicaid because we get too much,I have my own health issues. My 2sons that are under 18 get medicaid, but my 20year who is in college full time don't.
It's just a mess, if I get a job my husband could lose this or that!
