What would cause a metal braided dishwasher hose to melt and leak at the point where it touches a copper pipe. This happened a few days ago on a dishwashing hose that has been installed for over a year. I replaced it and within 2 hrs it leaked at the same spot where it touches a copper pipe. It also shows some burn marks at that spot as did the old hose.
All the plumbing is grounded not sure why all the sudden this is happening?

The only logical reason for what you describe is that there is an electrical short some where with in the diswasher. That short should be in the neutral side of something, other wise the short would trip the breaker if the dishwasher is properly grounded. Check the electrical connection box. If you find no fault there the problem is some where in the wiring of the dishwasher.

Wow! How hot was the copper line to melt through a metal braided hose? Here's a tip. Replace the hose and keep it away from the hot water lines.

Happened on a washer/dryer combo. The main panel ground was broken and the copper cold water pipe had a disconnected ground. Repaired both but it happened again with a new set of braided hoses. Going to check the washer and dryer motors to see if they ohm bad against the casing.
