When born my grandson was given our last name as my daughter, his mother, was not married. His father has been in and out of his life for 13+ years and is nearly always behind in child support. When they went to court for custody when he was a baby the court said they would change his name to his father's but they never filed the papers. About a year ago the father went to court (without my daughter's knowledge) and got it finalized. However, he was unable to delete our last name, so my grandson actually has a double last name. My grandson was very distraught about this and immediately wanted my daughter and I to go to court and get this reversed. He wants to maintain the last name he has grown up with and that his friends and teachers all know him by. We have been told he will have to waite until he is 18 to have this done. He is very unhappy about this. Is there anything that can be done now? We live in Ohio ---Grandmasom
