Hello. I am a 24 year old female and I suffer from hypothyroidism. I went today for my bi annual blood work. I wanted to check my cortisol and ACTH plasma levels, besides my T4, TSH and vit D that have been bad for a while now. I took a sample at 8 in the morning and already then the nurse remarked that my veins are very fragile and it blew the moment she priced it. Then the next round was at 11 in the night to measure the oscillation of cortisol and ACTH. That was a night mare. My veins again were blowing up like crazy, in addition she could not draw blood properly and it coagulated in the vile very fast. The viscosity was also off, it being very thick. She said it was not normal. I was very stressed by those words so I ended up giving up trying to get more blood. I must also mention that the temperature has been very elevated in the last days and I am also overweight. Should I be worrying and seeking medical advice or should I pass it as environmental?

It sounds as though you might have been dehydrated. The situation you describe, especially with the veins blowing, is very common with dehydration.

Thank you! I forgot all about that possibility...

It happens quite frequently in the heat some some areas are having right now. You would be surprised how easily we can dehydrate without having any other symptoms.
