View Full Version : Corner Shower Leak

I have a corner shower that leaks under the base.

Water shows up at the base of the platform the shower is on, along the grout line. Not a flood but depending on how long the shower is on for.

I've only used it a few times. I've lived in my house two years and someone didn't finish the install all the way - the drip rail wasn't mounted and they had one piece on backwards so water dripped outwards (the piece under the door - I had to put a plug in it since they had drilled a hole to put a screw into the ceiling). Some of the tiles lifted a bit.

There's no caulking inside along the bottom rail. I haven't tested the drain yet.

What else do I need to look for?

Thanks in advance!

Does the floor give a little when you step in the shower? Call your contractor back and have him finish the installation. This would be a contract job and your contractor's breached the contract. Good luck, b Tom

Thanks for your reply.

The floor is solid, no movement.

I don't know who did the work. I think the previous owners did it (like two owners ago, the guy I bought from didn't live here long) - it was like that when I moved in two years ago.

Should I caulk inside and test the drain? Besides the plumbing, are those my most likely causes?
