I am looking for a movie, that I saw as a kid. I saw it in the early 80's but it was older than that.

I remember it was period movie, knights and whatnot. Anyway, the "prince" received magically knights as a gift. They ended going on a mission and one by one dying in one way or another.

I hope someone can help me out an dthis wasn't a dream I had.

The movie you are looking for is 1962's The Magic Sword (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056211/), starring Basil Rathbone (famous for his depictions of Sherlock Holmes) and a young Gary Lockwood (years before his role in 2001: A Space Odyssey). It was written and directed by B-flick auteur Bert Gordon, who also helped bring us The Amazing Colossal Man and Earth vs. the Spider.

A plot summary at imdb.com reads: "The son of a sorceress, armed with weapons, armour and six magically summoned knights, goes on a quest to save a princess from a vengeful wizard." Each of the six knights in question comes from a different country, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and so forth. Some or all of them get 86ed along the way.
