Hello. I have a question and in consdiering the worst I suppose, my dog is about a year and 5 months old, we aren't sure what kind of dog she is but she has always had a VERY healthly appitite. For the last week or so, she has been taking maybe a bite out of her 4 cups of food she gets everyday. She is a very very entergetic dog, and she has been more withdrawn to my partner and she has alwasys been my baby so with me, she is fine. I've tried wet food on top of it, I've tried treats but she is nonresponsive. I plan on taking her to the vet but she has recently gotten a rattlesnake venom shot and she has to get another one at the end of this month, could this be a side effect? Mind we are in a extreme heat warning but I can not bring her inside but I have a tarp over her incloser and its actually very nice under that. I also have been putting a very large amount of ice in there because it is very hot. I'm worried for my dog and I don't know what to do or think.
~very worried momma,

She was bitten by a rattlesnake, lives outside in this extreme heat, under a tarp?

Why can't she be inside?

I'd ask the Vet but I'd be worried about the heat. Is she drinking? Dogs dehydrate very quickly.

I never heard of a shot in case of a rattlesnake bite - great info. I learned from you!

Now I understand the outside part - as long as she's got shade, plenty of water. I was afraid she was chained somewhere, one of my pet peeves.\

Sounds like you really care about her - is there a chance you can get your own apartment and turn her into an inside dog so she can be with you all the time?

Let's hope it's not some sort of obstruction - does she eat stones, anything like that?

Yes it's a great shot. If you get the sohot your dog will not only have extra time for you to get them to the vet but it could actually make them immune! :) glad to help.
I totally understand. I have a chain but I only put her on it while I pooped scoop or I have to fill up her many holes. But that's for maybe 20 minutes, I don't llike to put her on it but she loves to jump so it makes it a bit easier.
I wish I could but I'm going to college and its tight right now. Plus all my money goes to her food and my food and books so I couldn't afford it...
I love her so much. I found her on the side of the road. Just waiting for me. So I picked her up took her to the vet and got her checked and made her a name tag and she was mine :")

I'm afriad another issue is she is lonely. I'm always at school and or doing homework then I go to work. When I get home I always try to go on a walk with her but I've been picking up extra s (my coworker had a baby) so ii haven't really been walking her. I know she is lab and we think the other part is greyhound. She is my only family. I'm just worried..

The best you can do is... the best you can do. At one point in my life I was working one full time and TWO part time jobs. I had three big dogs. I suppose they had each other for company but I know they missed me (and I missed them) but I had to put in a lot of hours in order to make ends meet. You do what you have to do.

Could you, perhaps, do your homework with her, in her fenced area, just outside? I'm sure she jumps because she misses you and doesn't get enough human contact.

I have a theory that we don't find dogs - they find us!

I suppose I could do my homework outside, I know she misses me because she won't even lift her head for anyone else. I know she found me, I lost my parents to a drunk driver and my friend and her parents were the only help I had and still have. They help out when I can't pay rent or buy food. Roxxi is my life. I'm 19 can't have children so I have a dog. Do I need a baby now? No, but even if I did I couldn't. I'm asking for help with my child, advice, and hope. I don't want her to have to be hurting if she is and I know something is wrong when she doesn't eat.
I know I could stop school and pick up more work but its what my mom and dad wanted. So I am going to college. That takes up ten hours or the day and homework takes up a good six. I work nights at a old folks home so if someone needs help going to the bathroom, or I have to give meds I can. I try to do homework then while I'm working but its hard. Then when I get home no matter what time I take roxxi for her walk.
Could I do it better? I'm trying to find a way.

I don't think you could handle life any better. I'm so sorry about your parents - I lost my Dad to a drunk driver.

The only thing I could possibly suggest is taking a break from school, perhaps a semester or two. Give yourself some time to breathe. I'm not saying quit because of your dog, but you sound overloaded.

I'm sure your parents wouldn't want you to carry this heavy load - and you are carrying a heavy load AND you are alone.

What part of the Country are you in? I'm thinking rattlesnake = Arizona. Am I close?

And, yes, this dog was DEFINITELY sent to you.
