Hi again.

Dunc is getting a lot better with the chewing. We have used the distraction technique & leave his leash on so when we catch him we can pull him away & "NO" then give him another toy. He loves lemon juice & were told if he likes that the bitter apple will have the same effect.

Not a big deal & I know it takes 1000's of NO's until he will stop chewing the things he's not supposed to. I'm just trying to collect multiple techniques. Any thoughts?

A mousetrap is very effective in making a dog leave something alone. Most
Dogs will stay away from anywhere they were surprised by a snap. The best
Part is that it is not you that is correcting the dog. It works whether you
Are around or not. The mousetrap is very patient and is always on task as
Long as you reset it. Some dogs outsmart them.

Crate the dog when you can't watch it. Use the toy substitution, and the mousetrap as needed.

Interesting thanks. We can normally keep an eye on him when home. With the trap would you turn it around as to not catch Dunc in the spring?

I was never told I needed to, and none of my puppies ever got caught even the fairly young ones I have had to resort to with it. You can use strategies like sitting it in front of the wastepaper basket where he will step on it if he tries to get into it.
