I am looking for the title of a western movie that I watched as a kid back in the 60's or 70's. It was about an outlaw who came into a town looking for a man (who I think was the sheriff of the town). The outlaw wanted to have a duel with him, and he agreed. The two men practice their shooting throughout the movie, and every now and then, one catches the other one's practice, such as shooting at bottles. Well, you can see as the movie goes on, that they are becoming friends They never say they like each other, but you can just tell by their facial expressions. Before the duel, the sheriff's wife talks to him and he says everything will be okay. The 2 meet for their duel, and I think the sheriff is confident that nothing will come of it. The whole town is involved and seemingly looking forward to the duel. The 2 duel, and the outlaw shoots the sheriff dead. The outlaw turns to look at the crowd and keeps turning in slow motion, like he expects to be praised for winning the duel. Instead, everyone sadly lowers their heads, and then they walk away. The duel was shocking and sad. I felt like the people of the town. I felt awful and cried. I want to see this movie again; it was excellent. I have searched the internet in everyway I could think of to find this movie, but to no avail. Maybe someone out there remembers the movie and can help.
