I hear a lot that drinking alcohol while on Welbutrin XL 300 Mg, or any antidepressant for that matter, is NOT a good idea. So my question is this, is it safe to drink alcohol, to the point of being drunk, while taking Welbutrin?

Any MAO inhibitor anti-depressant would be really dangerous. But all others have some dangers because everything about both the drug and the alcohol is heightened. You shouldn't be getting drunk when depressed anyway! You KNOW alcohol is a depressant. If you can handle one drink, can stop at one drink, and if you have people around to watch your side effects and drive, then have an occasional drink - IF your prescribing doctor thinks it's not harmful to your situation. If you are taking Wellbutrin to quit smoking and are not depressed, sorry if I assumed.

lol its all good, and thanks for the reply! Yeah, I am taking it because I'm depressed, funny thing though, alcohol never seemed to have any negative effects on me, none that I could notice anyway. My doctor did give it to me to help quit smoking as well, I haven't quit, its only made me do it less! Thanks again =)
