Problem: We recently removed several decades of tile (one layer was 1/2 inch thick terracotta) in our bathroom, right down to the (heavily damaged) terrazzo original floor of this 1956 home. We then tiled with rectified porcelain tile, which looks great, but... now the toilet 'rocks' a bit. The floor level is too low. My husband tucked a few pieces of cardboard under the foot of the toilet and that works great but I am assuming it is not a permanent solution. I read some forums and found these solutions: 1. lay a marble slab (which we happen to have) as a sort of 'pedestal to the pedestal'. The problem is, our new dual flush chair height toilet will be ridiculously high, especially for little grandchildren... :). 2. get a plumber to cut the metal pipe lower (costs $$$).
Question: Is there something we can buy at HD or Lowe's, to raise the toilet 3/16 inch? I am picturing an 'outline' of the foot of the toilet that we could put under the toilet, later caulk in, and... no rocking! OR, should we put another few tiles under the toilet (cut to follow the outline of the toilet foot) and caulk that in? We have lots of tiles hanging around (we are big on C List). Thank you for any suggestions!
