So I went camping yesterday and we were next to a river. The river was fast flowing and cold, most sanitary you can get in the wild I guess! I'm smart enough not to drink ANY unfiltered or unpurified water, but in a moment of extreme over-heating, I did splash water on my face a few times, being careful to keep 98% out of my body. So here's my question, can you get any waterborne illnesses from splashing water on your face? Say water got on your lips, eyes or nose, is this possibleto contract them? Thanks so much for your time!

Yes it is possible but a low%. You really need to ingest to get sick or in a deep cut.

Yes much harder, but in many nations the water warning is not to shower in it, since getting some in face or eyes can cause illness.

Since this was running water, assuming there was no toxic material from up stream, the contamination should be low risk ( but low risk is not NO risk)

So is there a slight risk, yes, but not very high at all.
