I am going on H1-B visa to teach and research in a US university from India. For first two years do I need to pay taxes?

Your federal INCOME tax liability will be about $12,500.

Your FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax liability is based on a flat rate of 4.2% and 1.45%, respectively.

You will also probably have a state income tax liability unless you live and work in one of seven states that has no state income tax.

Yes, you do. The H-1B visa is a work visa and the teacher exemption under the J-1 visa dos NOT apply.
