How do you change a clutch in a 1998 ford ranger?

Remove driveshaft, any interfering muffler components, floor board and shifter, hydraulic clutch connection. Support engine, remove transmission mount, support transmission and remove all the bolts. Remove transmission, remove all clutch components and reinstall. Not easy for 1 person to do. Top bolt is hard to get to. If 4WD lots more to remove.

Fairly big job. Best if you bought a Haynes Manual. Be prepared to bleed the clutch system, after replacing the concentric slave cylinder/release bearing. Historically, it has been challenging on Rangers to get all of the air out. Before you start, research the special tools that will be required. Look for a deal on a Perfection Clutch Kit. Be sure to resurface the flywheel, replace the pilot bearing, and replace the rear main crankshaft seal if it's leaking.
