What can I put on my quilt to keep my dog from peeing on it? She is a 3 yr old spayed rat terrier and I have had her since was 3 montgs old. Sbe uses the doggie door most of the time but if I lock her out of the bedroom she holds it until I open the.door and pees in the middle of my bed. Not just a few drops but she pees a river. I love too much to get rid of her I just don't want her to pee on my new quilt any more. What can I put on the quilt to discourage her?

You could try putting something she doesn't like the feel of on the bed for a while until you can retrain her to go outside.
Something like newspaper or aluminium foil works well for most dogs as they jump up, hear the crinkling and get straight off.
It's a pain and it won't look pretty but it would only be temporary until she gets the hint that the bed is off limits.

You could also try installing a baby gate over the bedroom door but personally I find that the crinkly newspaper on the bed works better. It might be worth you trying the same method on couches and chairs. Limit her to her own dog bed and teach her that ANY sort of furniture, bed, couch etc is off limits.

I would avoid deterrent sprays unless you can find one that smells appealing to you as you are the one who has to put up with the smell all night!

Where does she sleep at night? In your bedroom or somewhere else?
