I have internet explorer on this computer and its explorer 8 but I can't access it. I have Google chrome and slim browser but I can't get into my internet explorer. I have several things on my computer that depend on IE. I tried to remove the IE 8 version so I could install a newer one. I have it but I just can't get to it and I've tried everything I know. When I try to install it again it says it can't copy a certain file and then takes me to the troubleshoot part and that doesn't do any good. I would like to open the internet explorer but I've just about given up.
Can someone help me with this? I have XP and I bought my lenovo all in one desktop in 2012 so it isn't that old.

Simply install the latest Internet Explorer version 9 and this should resolve your problems.
It's available for free download here: Internet Explorer downloads - Microsoft Windows (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/internet-explorer/downloads/ie)

I tried doing that already and that's what I was explaining in my post. When I tried doing that it said it couldn't find a file which I think was IE and then has me troubleshoot it and it doesn't do any good. Why wouldn't I be able to get on IE if its already on my computer?

Can you open "My Computer" as that's explorer, which uses the same files as IE.
Also check windows Update as the update for IE 9 is there as well..
Also have you tried a system restore back before it worked?

I can open my computer and found the shortcut for IE but it says there's a script error and I don't know what you mean by the windows update. I have IE 8 anyway. I have done the system restore before but not for a long time.

OK scripting errors can largely be ignored.
Googling the actual code might help..

Go to Control Panel
Internet Options
Advanced Tab (top right)
Restore Defaults
Reset
Reset User Settings
Close
Ok
Now open Internet Explorer and see how you get on. This solves a multitude of sins!
Hope it helps you out! :)
