My period is highly irregular, and I frequently get bad symptoms. My doctor suggested I go on birth control to help regulate it, but I'm only fourteen and my mother seems to have a problem with it even though I'm already on other medications for depression. What should I do?

That is truly a decision that you, your mother, and your doctor should make. I do understand why your doctor has suggested this, and I also understand why your mother is uneasy.
Have you talked to your mother to find out why she has a problem with it? She may have a good answer.
Let me ask, are you sexually active?

DO it seriously I did at 14 and it helped regulate my periods a greatt deal and what's even better I knew exactly when they were coming so it was easier to plan for and I no longer had any pain with them :)

It's a great idea Mandie, but her mother has to give permission for her to go on the pill at this age. Many mothers do not want their 14 year olds on birth control.

I started birth control at 13 because of my irregular periods, I did not become sexually active until 15. The only argument I had with it was that after taking birth control for so long I was scared I wouldn't get pregnant but now I am 21 and am waiting on my baby boy who should be here any day. I agree with using it, it is much better than having a gushy period 2 weeks in a row!! :)

Well, I'm fifteen right now and my symptoms have been getting worse. My mother still won't let me take the pill, and I've even missed classes in the nurse's office because of horrible cramps. I'm not sexually active, and I don't understand why my mother has such a big problem with my taking the medicine.
