1. You are deciding on whether to take a job that is in New York or a job in California. We’ll call the first job, Job A. Job A pays you $33,500 a year, but income tax is 13%, and insurance isn’t included (insurance costs $2,000 a year). The other job is known as Job B. Job B pays $29,750 a year and income tax is 18%, but insurance is included (again insurance costs $2,000 a year). Which job would take if you wanted to have the most money at the end of the year?
2. You want to purchase a house. House A costs $405,896 with 6% mortgage interest rate, while House B costs $310,345 with 8% mortgage rate. Which house costs less?
3. You are shopping on the Internet for a new laptop. One laptop (laptop A) costs $1,999.99 with 9.25% sales tax. Another laptop (laptop B) costs $2,335.45 with 6% sales tax. Shipping is free in both cases. Which laptop costs less?

These are all percent problems which can all be solved the same way. I'll show you how to answer the third one... Let's find the total cost with tax using... Laptop A $1,999.99 x 1.0925 =?. Laptop B $2,335.45 x 1.06 =?? Now you can see which costs less. Do the same for questions 1 and 2.
