I have upgraded my HP laptop computer from XP Pro to Windows 7, just to realize that I no longer have sound. Looking at the Device Manager, I show that I have a Realtek AC'97 Audio device, but it is not working. I had went to the Realtek website and downloaded the driver and tried to install it, but it still does not work.

You may have multiple volumes.
Are you using headphones?

Make sure you are running the correct media driver from HP that's compatible with Win7.

No, I am not using headphones. When I had upgraded my laptop from XP to Windows 7, I had lost sound altogeather, so I have been using an external USB Turtle sound system which I would need to use external speakers and microphone. When I have the USB plugged in, then I am able to see the volume bar, but other then that, I do not show the media volume control.

I had went to HP's website and since my laptop was originally XP, HP does not service or provide updated drivers for my computer. I had also went to the Realtek website and downloaded the driver program which did not solve the issue. Unfortnately, I am not using my laptop right now to provide more specifics.
