Ivy is a Boxer/pit mix. At her foster moms house she slept in a crate at night with other dogs.

We brought her home on Friday.

1st night she woke us up twice and whined a little in between potty breaks
2nd night--same (we bought a snuggle puppy that day)
3rd night--with new snuggle pup she only woke us up once--very little whining.
4th night--same
5th night--she was up four times with lots of loud whinning.

Her crate is in our bedroom.

Before bed we walk her, she plays as long as she wants and we pick up her water two hrs before bed. (we also putting down and picking up her food 3xs a day)

When she naps we are putting her in her crate, with door open. We are starting to feed her in her crate--currently with door open.

We need to be able to crate her for short times without her being so upset durning the day--which we haven't even tried yet because of how upset she gets a night. She is crated at night because she is not house trained. She will tell you when she needs to go when she is in her crate and in the car but not always when she is running around the house.

Is there anything else we can do to get her more comfortable with her crate.

YOu are doing an excellent job! Keep it up. Crate training can be difficult for new dogs, especially adopted/shelter pets. Is there a lot of light in your room? Have you tried putting a blanket over the crate at night? You could move her to a different location and try soft music on low at bed time

I am happy to announce She is doing better and has been crated for short time several times through out the day and does wonderful! We are getting our night time routine down and learned there is a balance of sleep--too much and she keeps us up all night too little and she isn't happy.

Good job! It took our Great Dane puppy some time to get used to the crate idea (we had lots of sleepless nights). He turned 12 weeks yesterday and seems to have gotten the idea.
