A college that I have applied to for a nursing program is asking for a complete medical and family medical history. I have to go to a physician and have him/her to do a complete clinical evaluation included in the list neurological, psychiatric, and genitalia. I am to submit all this paperwork in order to register for classes. To me, this just seems like it violates HIPAA - am I right? In addition, how are these records being kept? Are they in a safe place? Can just anyone with questions about my academic history also have access to my medical histroy as well? Again, to me, this just seems wrong.
I understand verification of immunizations and being sure I have no infectious diseases, but what they are asking for is way more than that.

You have a choice... give them the information... or find another school. .
Part of this results from the Virginia Tech incident. Where a loon was allowed to run loose until he went off the reservation and killed a bunch of people. And there have been other incidents.
