What is the rough height for the vanity drain pipe from the floor? I searched online and I found different ranges, from 14 to 20 inches and 16 to 24 inches. I tried copying the drain pipe height which was 20 inches, but my install came out to be 21.5 inches. Is 21.5 inches OK ? Or should I redo it and lower to make it 20 inches?

Also, the drain outlet ended up off centered, because I forgot to take to account the metal rod that was sticking out that prevented me to align it to the center. The drain pipe outlet is off center to the left a bit. Does it matter if it is off centered? I am planning on redoing the pipe again because of this.

One more question, how long should I make the pipe from the drain out to the wall? As you can see in he picture I haven't cut the pipe yet.
Thank you in advance for the advice.

Here is the pipe that is off centered to the left.

Also, does anyone know what is the purpose of the metal rod next to the drain pipe? I am planning on cutting it. I am thinking it was just a guide to align the pipes when they poured concrete. Is it OK to cut this rod?

Depending upon the shelve height we stub out our vanities at 18" off the floor. The rod looks like rebar, cut it. If you're off a bit the trap should swing enough to take up the difference, Good luck, Tom

Most traps will give you a 3 1/2" swing off center. 15" to 19" off floor. lower is better than higher, you can always use a extension piece on tailpice on sink if you are to low or cut tailpiece if rough is too high. In most cases 21 1/2" should be OK.

Thanks Tom! I will probably redo it and go down to 18".

Also one more question how long should the 2" pipe be from the stub out to the wall before I convert it to 1 1/2"?

Thanks puffmug! Like I said to Tom I will probably redo it to go down to 18". Can you also suggest how far i should go out with the 2" pipe from the stub out to the wall before it is converted to 1 1/2 " pipe. Thanks

Cut off the 2" pipe 2" or 3" into the vanity, then use a 2" x 1 1/2" ABS female trap adapter on it.
