Hello,

We have what smells like sewage water pulsing up through cracks in the concrete where our basement waste trap is located. We had the trap replaced 10 years ago.
The water only comes out when we run the dishwasher or disposal. The vent under our kitchen sink goes up somewhere, but does not come out on our roof.
I expect that the vent is clogged? I can see why this would cause problems, but don't understand why it would lead to water coming through the basement floor!
I am afraid of having to have the concrete broken up and the basement trap replaced. Hoping that there is a way to clear the sink vent without being able to reach it from the roof.
Any help would be appreciated.

I expect that the vent is clogged? Wishful thinking on your part, I have a different take on this. It's for sure that you have a blockage downstream from the house trap. What really bothers me is this,
sewage water pulsing up through cracks in the concrete where our basement waste trap is This tells me that there are breaks and openings in your sewer line.
The blockage can be taken care of by snaking the line. The breaks are a different story.
The concrete will have to be opened up and the break located and repaired. Sorry! Good luck, Tom
