Saturday I got in my car and my engine light came on, I drive a 2007 Chevy malabo.. never has the engine light came on.. kind of freaked out a little and filled up my car with gas.. so Sunday and Monday my car was running fine but the light kept flashing off and on. Now that my car has gotten to a guarter of a tank this morning when I took off for work it started sputtering and spitting acting lime it would barely go. At times almost dying on me.. and the engine light is going crazy. I'm a single hard working mother and I don't have money to take my car to someone who is going to charge me an arm and a leg to just tell me what it is. Can someone give me a few suggestion on what it is or what I should do.. if u have any question ask me. THANK YOU

Have you tried any dry gas? If you have water still in the tank it may get worse at the tank level goes down. I would try some dry gas (alcohol based) and then fill the tank. But it could be the fuel pump also or many other problems besides water in gas.

Attach a code reader to the 16-pin Data Link Connector (located under the dash), turn the ignition switch to ON, and record any codes. Tell us what codes were thrown. That should give us a good idea of what direction to proceed. In the interim, make sure the gas cap is tight--it must seal. That may even be what the problem is.

Agree it can be a gas filter ( when was it last replaced) A fuel pump, issue with spark plug wires, issue with spark plugs ( where they they replaced), a problem in the computer or more.
How or why would water have been put in the gas, if you mean at the last fill up, yes some of the product to dry, fill it up with fresh gas and see if it helps.

I wanted to know what dry gas is. I'm petty auto savy but each day I learn.. I also wanted to know if you can put too much cleaner into your gas tanks? No no I haven't just wondering.. cause sometimes know how and experience is much better to follow than the direction on a bottle.

Check Engine Light started flashing when started engine------then filled with gas---and drove car till 1/4--tank of gas remaining---then trouble with engine running correctly. Since check engine light came on before getting fuel "water" may not be a issue. I agree with tex-grease monkey--scan for codes. You may find auto parts store in your area that scan for free . Call around--- bet you can find one. Best of luck-

Also as soon as I put the fuel in the tank my gas gauge was reading full and drop to empty when I stopped at any time.. it's that a sign that water is in the tank? I thought it as
Because it's hard for the gauge to measure the water when in with the gas? I just am trying to get out of this mess without spending money I don't have.

Sorry I missed your previous question until just now. Here is a definition of Dry gas from wik: "The name Drygas is actually a brand name, owned by Cristy. It is a liquid that is added in to the fuel tank, that absorbs the water and keeps it in solution.[citation needed] Some brands contain methanol and some contain isopropyl alcohol.".
But Frank brings up an excellent point, there were signs of problems before you filled the tank. You can try the dry gas and filling the tank (from a different gas station) or just get a proper code reading as others have recommended. Good luck.

Check Engine Light is telling you that you have a engine problem, That issue has not been resolved----Will be cheapest to have free scan first rather than buying a bunch of parts you don't need. Get back with us with the "codes" and we may can help more. Thanks
