I crossed the boarder to US with friends that are not Canadian citizens. I was checked along with them and they found a court date but did not know if I was 18 or not when charges were laid. I was not denied entry. I since then have come home and started a pardon, but then mid-process have found out my charge had been withdrawn. Can I now go to US and show them the withdrawn statis OR should I continue to pay for the pardon?

If you are getting the pardon only to be allowed into the US and you can enter without the pardon, I'd stop the process.

If you care about this charge following you around for the rest of your life, I'd continue.

I have no idea what your age has to do with crossing and I'm ex-Homeland Security. An arrest is an arrest.

They said that they didn't know if I had a record or not because the court dates were when I had just turned 18 so they wondered if maybe I was 17 when the incident happened. If I was 17 I wouldn't have a record because I was a minor. I said I couldn't remember. It was a shock to me knowing that I had been in the States several times in previous years and no problems yet 15 years later I have trouble entering. So They told me to go to the police station where this had happened originally and get a record check before entering again. I was scared and thought I had a record (well I did but It has since been withdrawn) so I decided to go the route of the official pardon. So I am wondering if I will still have problems when I get a pardon. Will they then say that they know I had a record and a pardon doesn't allow me in? That I will have to pay for waivers every 5 years? This is something that some people have told me.
