I have been suffering and am now suffering with SEVERE right quadrant lower ab pain. I do not get this pain every month, sometimes I don't get it for 10-12 months. And then suddenly it's a problem off and on for several months in a row. I have 4 kids and due to EXTREMELY heavy periods, after the birth of my 4th child in 2006 - I had a "Nova-Sure Ablation". Wonderful procedure in which I have never had a period (female monthly bleeding) since Oct. of 2006. However, this kind of complicates this present issue because I know not when I ovulate. I've had cysts and ruptured cysts ONLY on this right ovary off and on since the after the birth of my first child in 1988. (I am now 43 as of May 27, 2012.) Over the past 6 yrs or so it seems to be getting worse. Unfortunately so has my overall health. I've had heart surgery (2009) for mitral valve prolapse (now have St. Jude artificial valve), HOCM (had a myectomy), A-FIB (had an ablation); and due to bradycardia in 2010 - received a defibulator. Also in 2010 was DX with Congestive Heart Failure. I have to take 4 diff. heart meds including Coumadin for the rest of my life. I also have Hep C and am at Stage 3 Liver Fibrosis. I give you my HX to tell you that these cysts I have get only so big. (Bigger than they should to be sure), and then I have a night of writhing in pain as they rupture every 3 months. Or so. Then my nightmare starts all over again and within 3-4 months. 1 or 2 cysts are back on my right ovary again - growing larger and larger and more and more painful until they rupture also, causing severe pain, writhing, moaning, groaning, etc.. Same process. I just had 2 rupture on me 3 months. Ago and this was verified via sonogram. Dr said, "Well, they were large but not so large as to warrant doing a hystorectomy on a 43 yr old with heart and liver problems. And he said he cannot prescribed replacement hormone therapy afterward? Of course I can't take birth control pills with my heart problems Anyway, so that was 3 mos. ago and now again I have an appt this Thurs - because once again - I have been limping around and moaning and groaning, esp as the day wears on - my low right ab quad pain worsens more and more with every movement and radiates to my back and even into my hip/upper buttock area - and becomes excutiating by bedtime. This has been going on for 4-5 days now. I can barely walk on my right leg due to the pain. IS THIS NORMAL FOR AN OVARIAN CYST TO HURT THIS MUCH WHEN HE (dr.) CLAIMS THAT THEY ARN'T EVEN BIG ENOUGH CYSTS TO WARRANT THE KIND OF AGONY IM SAYING I HAVE? Am I overly sensitive to pain? Hypercondriac? It can't be appendix or I'd have been dead a LONG time ago. Last year he was all gung ho about giving me a hysterectomy but because heart drs. had JUST put in defibulator they wouldn't release me for gyno surgery. Now, only a yr. later, when heart drs. think I'm well enough to endure it, now the gynocologist says: "Its not worth it, they aren't big enough to warrant surgery and I cant' give you hormones so you'll just have to live with it." The main problem is this. I AM A RECOVERY HEROIN ADDICT, (hence the HEP C), and the only temporary treatment for ovarian cysts is opiates (because the 800 mg. ibu's every 6 hrs. don't help and the 24 hour bedrest with icepacks can only last so long, and I have 3 kids under 18. And I cannot, do not want to take narcotics again all the time. So what in the world should I do? SO whats going on? Why would dr. change his mind? I just don't get it. And as a welfare patient (I'm on SSI), there are only so many Medicaid Drs who will take us welfare medicaid clients. He's the only one around here in Youngstown OH. All other OB/GYN's left our area. . . HELP!!!! Any advice is and will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you, from " a pain in the side in Ohio". Thanks.

I found out. It's a fibroid tumor near my right ovary.
