Does the ignition coil power up the distributor given it a huge spark?

The Ignition Control Module opens and closes the current going to the primary coil winding. By doing this, it creates a "type" of alternating current, whereby voltage is stepped-up in the secondary coil winding; i.e. a step-up transformer. Through this process, 12 volts DC is stepped-up to 40,000 volts DC. The distributor distributes this power to the spark plugs at the right time.

Would a new coil help the car spark because I see no spark when I test it, and spark plug has a little wet gas smell when I took if out

Like I said before, if the CEL comes on for 2 seconds and then goes out, when the ignition switch is turned to Position II, then replacing the ICM and coil usually solves the problem of no spark. Normally, it's best to replace the ICM and coil at the same time--this is what your local Honda dealer would do.

You're right. You started a new thread and I forgot that you installed a new genuine Honda distributor. Therefore, installing a new coil and wire set would be in order.
