View Full Version : Why are my joints making cracking noises?

I am 14 and have been working out for 6 months now and I have noticed that my joints seem to be making cracking and popping noises. Before I started working out I could only crack my fingers. But now, I get cracking noises from my elbows, shoulder joints, upper back and neck. I also feel that I have to stretch a lot more.
Why are my joints making cracking noises and why do I feel I have to stretch more?

And before people start telling me I am too young to be working out. I am sensible about it, I do not do deadlifts or squats. That is just silly. And I do not do any exercise that compresses my spine.

Thanks

Please don't judge - or argue with - "our" answers before you get them.

There are many causes for popping/creaking joints. You say you "could" make your fingers crack - are you deliberately making your joints crack?
