I'm a middle school student and in middle schools playful rumors are quite common. Things like who likes who are common. I'm a bisexual girl and I am in an relationship with another girl. We're constantly together and hugs constantly though our relationship is not public. There's always been people talking about why we hug so much and we just shrug it off. Well once we kissed before class right when someone came out of the stairs and we almost sure she saw since she turned around and started talking to the people behind her. Now there's this rumor spreading that we kissed and... I don't know what to do. It came up in many places and I have friends everywhere but I'm only hearing about it now when it seemed to have started a long time ago. Now the rumors are increasing and I... just don't know what to do. I don't want this rumor to get large. I'm considering telling a teacher... but would also need to explain if we did kiss... and honestly I don't want to lie. I'm nervous about what to do. I'm so confused about everything and I don't even know the details... as of rit now I'm planning to tlak to the people I know are involved with this rumor and talk to my favorite teacher

I wish there was a manual made on how to deal with rumours. Would have been great for me when I went through middle school. I know exactly how you feel, the pain that lurks every time that rumour passes through your own ears. It hurts, and it hurts even more to know that they are true. However, you've already got the right idea, you mentioned "shrugging" off rumours. Well that's all you can really do, ignore them, and eventually everyone will forget. Rumours are only enlightening for a short period, they'll go away.
