Chest pains could be what is commonly called growing pains. I remember getting these around the same age. Unless you're obese then it is probably nothing else. If you were overweight and sedentary then I would say it could be cholesterol buildup in your arteries restricting blood flow.
Of course I'm not a doctor so to keep it real I will say that you need to get an appointment and be examined just to be sure.

At 13, it's highly unlikely you have a serious illness. Sometimes pain travels from the real location to another place where it's felt, and this can be confusing or misleading. The doctor should make you feel comfortable and respected, and if he/she doesn't, it's time for a new doctor.
Good luck to you. I feel confident it's nothing to worry about.

And if you don't go to a doctor to check it out, you think it will magically disappear?

It's certainly worth a doctor visit if for no reason other than to set your mind at ease. It could be gas or a pulled muscle or indigestion or like someone said, just growing pains. Check it out! (And let us kinow so we can stop worrying about you.)

How does it hurt? On a scale of one to ten how much is it bothering you. Are you getting out to be with your friends, walk, run, skate.

If it gets worse, definitely see a doctor. But exercise will help relax your heart (I know it doesn't sound like it should) but the blood flow is a healer.

Does it hurt all the time or just sometimes? Start keeping a diary of how you feel when it starts happening, and see if there's a change you can make that would make you more comfortable.

Telling your parents is a must because they would be royally pissed if you got sick.
