Me n my wife have separated. Whilst together I had credit cards in my name. She couldn't apply for credit as she had an IVA at the time. She spent considerable amounts of money on the credit cards. Is there any way that I can get her to pay the money back?

Sue her in court....

Will I be wasting my time and money though. Or is there a chance she will have to pay it back?

Unless you can get a court to order her to pay it back she is under no obligation to... your name was on it too... the bank will just make you pay for it.

Now a court ordering her to... and her actually doing it... are two separate things. You might win a judgement agreeing she owes you that money... its up to you to find and collect it however. The instrument here in the USA is a writ of Garnishment. However I assume you are in the UK and not sure how such details are dealt with there. But have patience and someone that does will answer.

Sue her is the only way, you will need proof the items were for her and her alone, and you will need to show she was helping to pay the bills on the credit cards when you were together
