Most parents won't trust an eleven-year-old with their children all alone. Your best bet is to be a mother's helper and care for/play with young children while a parent is somewhere nearby. Also, take a babysitting course at the library or Y or park district. Learn CPR too as an added advantage.

Just echoing Wondergirl here, but if you know how to swim, along with CPR that's great too for in the future. Some parents have a pool in their backyard and they want to make sure their kids are in good hands and nothing will happen.
