Does anyone know if child support can be taken out of the father's social security disability payments? He says that the money SSDI sends is for child support, but I always thought that this wasn't considered support and is not subtracted from what his father gets for SSDI, meaning, his SSDI amount wouldn't change if he didn't have a dependent? Should he be paying child support taken out of his disability payments as well? I don't want to totally screw him over, I know he doesn't get much for disability, however, he hasn't paid a dime in child support for most of my 12 year old's life so I think he should be contributing something. I know he works under the table as well which he doesn't report to social security. We had a child support agreement but when he became disabled I stupidly agreed to terminate it because he swore he would always pay me something each month to help out. That didn't happen once but he also wasn't involved at all in my son's life so I didn't push the issue. Now he claims he is a changed man and wants to become involved which is reason I would like him to contribute financially. I don't care if it is 5 dollars a month, I just think morally he should be contributing something. I live in PA. Does anyone have any insight or experience with this? Thanks in advance!
