Looking for a song that says" Mamas gone a walking son-way up in the sky..." I used to listen to it with my grandmother on a LP record in the 60's- and I can't find it anywhere. We always listened to Gene Autry;s Silver Haired Daddy too and I found it but can't find the other. Any help appreciated

There's a lot of songs like that. Do you know what genre of music? There was a song from the 1960's by Pat Cambell - called "Mother Went a Walking".
Don't know if that's the one you are looking for, but here's a link to the lyrics:

Not sure which is the original - Jim Reeves also sang it - also know as "Shall We Gather by the River".

The original was done by Jim Reeves and written by my father, Tom Bearden expressing his grief over the loss of his mother in a car wreck when he was a small child. Search for info on him on www.hill-billymusic.com Full name Thomas E. Bearden.
Glad you enjoyed the song.
Thanks, His daughter
