Hello all,

I noticed that my water pressure last week was surging, then going back to normal. I heard a clicking noise in my crawlspace where the water tank is located. It only clicks when the water is on and sure enough, when it clicks once the water pressure surges, when it clicks again it goes back to normal. The water tank is an Amtrol WX-202. I have no idea how old this tank is as I just bought the house 2 years ago. Anyone hear or know if this issue and is there something other than complete replacement than can be done? Is this a sign that it is about to fail?

Thanks for any info.

The clicking you here is your pressure switch turning off and on. The surge is probably due to a waterlogged tank. You can check that by holding down the little air valve located toward the top for several seconds. If water comes out, the tank is bad and should be replaced. Your tank is a 20 gallon bladder tank. Buying a somewhat larger replacement tank would probably be a good idea.

This link will tell you a lot more.

Thanks for the reply. I will check that when I get home. I guess a new tank is in my future...
