Hello, I'm having trouble with my pressure. I bought a house with a deep well pump. The pressure tank was leaking, so I put a new one in and at the same time I put a new pressure switch in. The switch is 40/60. The pressure in the tank is 38. I checked this 3 times. When the pressure drops to 40, the switch kicks in and the pressure drops to 10 very fast. Then it slowly builds up to 60psi. I tried to adjust the pressure switch up a little, but it didn't help. I would really appreciate it if someone would help me.Thanks.

If your tank is leaking, putting in a new pressure switch is not likely to solve your problem. You may have a bad check valve. I think a deep well pump would have one. My well is shallow and I have a surface pump. The check valve prevents water from returning to the well once it gets in the tank. My valve was stuck open by a little stone and I couldn't maintain any pressure. You obviously will want to have this resolved soon to avoid waste and wear and tear on your pump which is working overtime to counter the leak.

Hi, thanks for replying. I replaced the tank and the switch already. I don't know exactly where the check valve is, I think it might be on the well pump.

My check valve was at the bottom of the well. An old well. The well head was buried and no longer legal. Usually the pump is in the well and there is probaably a need for a check valve in that case. How did you make out?
